Anti-Nociceptive Effects of Alcohol
My primary dissertation project, funded by an NRSA F31 award from the NIAAA, is focussed on investigating the central mechanisms underlying the anti-nociceptive effects of acute alcohol in a rat model of persistent inflammatory pain.
This collaborative project is the first of its kind to investigate biobehavioral adaptations in a model of combined Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and alcoholic neuropathy in female rats.
Endocannabinoids, Pain, & Substance Use
These ongoing experiments are investigating the endocannabinoid system as a mediator for the bidirectional relationship between pain and substance use.
